Trekking in Nepal

Trekking in Nepal is considered one of the best way to explore the culture & nature of Nepal. A trek in Nepal is different from a walk in the Sierra mountains or in the European Alps. Unlike the walks in the Sierra mountains or the Alps, trekking in Nepal offers a great opportunity to visit hill/mountain villages dwelled by people of different ethnic origin, learn about their lifestyle and culture, play a sport with a local school kid and share a story with a village elder. Raised in the freedom of high hills and the mountains, Nepalese people are the friendliest of all and it is their company you will learn to enjoy most while you feel a profound peacefulness overwhelming your mind and soul breathing thin air amidst the high Himalayan mountains.

Where to trek: Depending on the time and area you would like to visit, a trek in Nepal can be done from a few days to over a month. Most treks begin after a drive to the nearest road head. Some treks require flying in to gain convenient and efficient access to the mountain. Annapurna is the most popular region for trekking for treks in this region offer great mountain views and a diverse cultural encounter. As the treks in this region conveniently start at a relative low terrain, there is no need to fly to a mountain airstrip. Flights to mountain destinations are sometimes disrupted by weather which affects your trip itinerary.

When to trek:  In Nepal mainly there are two major season for trekking i.e. Spring and Autumn. The traditional trekking season in Nepal mid-September October to May. October and November are recognized having the best weather for trekking for its mild warm weather and haze-less clear atmosphere. January is the coldest month of the year. Except for treks involving the crossing of high passes, it is possible to trek even in January as the winter in Nepal Himalaya is usually dry with less snow on the mountain. During the spring, the middle hills area are covered in haze even though it is clearly higher up. But this is the season of the blossom of Nepal’s national flower -rhododendron. The monsoon season (June through September) is the rainy season. It is a good time to visit Kathmandu and for treks in high altitude meadows for viewing mountain flowers and research herbs.

Where to trek: Treks in the Khumbu (Everest) area offers the best of the 8000mt peaks of Nepal and a chance to meet and interact with mountaineers. Khumbu is the home of the Sherpa people who climb for a living. Nearly half of the mountaineering expeditions that come for Nepal Himalaya are destined for peaks in this region namely Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Pumori, and Amadablam. For those with limited time, Langtang Valley offers the best Himalayan experience. Langtang Valley lies just 30 km north of Kathmandu Valley. The mountains here are very picturesque and the people who live here have a very different culture from other Himalayan people of Nepal. A good trip gaining 4000m experience can be done in as little as one week period without taking a flight.

Kangchenjunga, Makalu, Manaslu, Mustang, Dhaulagiri, Ganesh Himal, Dolpa area offer the best alternative for visitors who are interested to explore high remote mountain areas – off from the beaten tourist trails!

Type of treks: Our trek service include tea house/lodge Treks and camping style trek service. The tea-house / lodge trek service is arranged for trips in the popular trekking trail such as Khumbu, Annapurna, and Langtang where tea house facilities are fairly good. On such treks, we use designated tea-houses on the trail for accommodation, dinner, and breakfast. As not get tired of the similar dishes that are served at the tea-houses, we carry some food, fuel and a portable kitchen set-up to and your guide who also doubles as lunch chef chooses a nice spot away from the trail to prepare our own trek lunches. Porters are provided to carry your gear.

In areas where there is little or no tea house facility to be found, we offer the classic camping style trek arrangement. In the camping style, we carry all essentials for the trek such tents, food, fuel, stoves, and utensils for cooking and dining. We arrange porters carry your gear and camp staff to set-up camp, cook serves meals. You carry a backpack only with items what you would need for the trail. The camping style treks provide the very intimate experience of hiking the remote high mountain area of Nepal.

Traditional costume of Nepal

Traditional costume of Nepal Talking about traditional costume of Nepal it would be right to say not "costume" but "costumes" because though Nepal is a small country there are many ethnic groups living here and each group has their unique traditional dress. I will tell about a few that I find most interesting. The Newars . This ethnic group has many different styles of dress among themselves but there is one common thing - they prefer combinations of black and red colours. The most common seen Newar woman's dress is the   hakku potashi , a black sari with red borders. Young girls wear it knee level,  but older women prefer to completely cover their legs. The sari is complimented by a white   patuka  wrapped aroud the waist and a cotton shawl wrapped diagonally over the blouse. Men wear a double-breasted shirt ( daura ) with flaps fastened by ties diagonally across the chest, and tight trousers called  suruwal . The costume c
