Nepal

Flag of Nepal Nepal (नेपाल) has its flag red with a blue border around the unique shape  of two overlapping right triangles. The smaller, upper triangle has a white stylized moon and the larger and lower triangle displays a white 12-pointed sun. The color red represents the rhododendron (the National flower of Nepal) and the color red is sign of victory and bravery. The blue border signifies peace and harmony; the two right triangles are a combination of two single pennons (pennants) that originally symbolized the Himalaya Mountains.  The moon represents the serenity of the Nepalese people and the shade and cool weather in the Himalayas, while the sun depicts the heat and higher temperatures of the lower parts of Nepal. The moon and the sun are also said to express the strong belief that the Nepal will be there in the earth as long as Sun and Moon are in the sky. Nepal is the only country in the world with triangular flag. Geography Nepal is in Southern Asia, between

Nepal is the only destination in South Asia that has been featured in Lonely Planet's Top Ten Destinations Guidebook. The world’s leading travel guide Lonely Planet says, "Even natural disasters can’t keep Nepal down for long. The 2015 earthquakes caused devastation, but what is most striking from a traveller’s perspective is not how much was lost but how much remains.” “Landmark temples crumbled, but others came through with just the odd tile out of place, and whole swathes of the country escaped serious damage, including most of the popular trekking trails.” It added, “Nepal has all the skills required to repair monuments and infrastructure, but what it does need is income. By visiting Nepal now and supporting local culture and people, you could help a nation re

Apple Iphone 7 and 7plus | New Camera

One of the most interesting feature for photographers is the introduction of two cameras on the new Iphone 7 plus launched last evening. Other than the standard camera with the 28 mm F 1.8 wide angle lens, Apple has also introduced a second camera with a  short telephoto lens 56 mm which would be useful for portraits, throwing the background out of focus etc. Despite the fact that phone cameras would usually lag behind their larger counterparts there is a lot to recommend in Apple's new offerings. The sensor is now 12 MP with an intelligent image processor - there is also RAW capability using Adobe's DNG format which can be processed in Lightroom. The camera is also capable of 4K video recording. Other plus points are extended battery life which has always been an issue with Iphones as compared to the competition. It would be interesting to see how many users upgrade to the 7plus - I am sure many photographers will be interested.

Teej

Teej is the fasting festival for women. It takes place in August or early September. The festival is a three-day long celebration that combines sumptuous feasts as well as rigid fasting. Through this religious fasting, hindu women pray for marital bliss, well being of their spouse and children and purification of their own body and soul. Traditionally, the ritual of Teej is obligatory for all Hindu married women and girls who have reached puberty. Exception is made for the ones who are ill or physically unfit. In such circumstances a priest performs the rites. According to the holy books, the Goddess Parbati fasted and prayed fervently for the great Lord Shiva to become her spouse. Touched by her devotion, he took her for his wife. Goddess Parbati, in gratitude sent her emissary to preach and disseminate this religious fasting among mortal women, promising prosperity and longevity with their family. Thus was born the festival of Teej. The first day of Teej is called the &

Namche Bazaar

One of the most famous and popular stops on the way to Everest is a village called Namche Bazaar, which is located at 11,286 feet (3440 meters). Most trekkers reach Namche on their second day of hiking, but to get there they must first conquer a very long, and challenging hill that is a test of stamina for just about anyone. In fact, that day on the trail is one of the most challenging of the entire trek, as you gain more than 2600 feet (800 meters) in altitude. Fortunately, nearly everyone who makes the trek ends up spending an extra day in Namche, giving them a chance to rest, acclimatize, and explore the place further. Nestled along the crescent shaped slopes of the Khumbu Valley, Namche Bazaar is both charming and exhausting all at the same time. The narrow alleyways are lined with gear shops and teahouses, but you’ll have to climb more steps than you’d care to count just to visit any of them. It is especially disheartening when you arrive in the village after 3 or 4 hours
