Nepal is the richest country in water resources in Asia and is the second richest country in the world with respect to the water resources!

Being a mountainous country with snow-capped Himalaya Ranges and with large perennial rivers originating from, the water resources of Nepal are very immense. It is fact that Nepal is the second richest country in water resources in the whole world. There are about 6000 rivers with about 45000 Km lengths. Mechi, Koshi, Bagmati, Karnali, Narayani, Gandaki, and Mahakali are the major rivers of Nepal. The Koshi is the largest among them. Deepest river is Narayani and the the longest one is Karnali. Mahendra Tal, Phewa Tal, Rara Tal, Rupa Tal and Begnas Tal are the major and popular lakes of Nepal. There are countless number of brooks, streams and springs. It plays a vital role for the hydro electricity production, irrigation, development of industries, transportation and communication, and increase tourism industries.

We fully depend in the water recourse. All of them are key in the development of the country. Hydroelectricity is generated from such huge rivers. We also use these recourse for irrigation, cooking, washing and drinking. They are also being used for transportation and entertainment. Many people enjoy rafting and boating in rivers and lakes. They are also playing vital role as regional and national boundaries of the country. The agriculture of Nepal is fully depend upon them.
